As per the title, I've just returned from a shoot and the shutter is going haywire, with an error 20 code showing. I'm being asked to either turn off then back on again, or remove then reinsert the battery. I've done this but to no avail. Has anyonbe else seen/had this error and if so, what was the remedy please?

With the battery inserted, but the power is off, the mirror is operating by itself.

I have an important shoot on Sunday and could really have this resolved ASAP. Your resp[onses would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Take the other small battery out and see if that helps but i doubt it will if the Canon error code is accurate!

in the battery compartment

sounds daft but it is

As far as I know error 20 is shutter/mirror problem. But (from what I've read) it's worth removing the batteries and leaving them out for 15 minutes or so.

here's hoping for you!

Has this had the shutter/focus fix?

Nope one and the same.

Sounds like your shutter or mirror sensor has packed up, I'd be tempted to leave the battery out and get it off to Canon. Sadly you arent going to get anything done for Sunday.

Are you in the CPS ?

I was out with a guy once that had error 19 on a 1DIII, swapped batteries, cards you name it, couldn't fix it at the time so it went off to Canon, he jumped ship to Nikon after that.

He's never been the same since!

Thanks (I think ;)) Chris. Yes, I'm in the CPS. I could pass via Canon UK on Tuesday, so I may call in and see if they could take a look.

No thanks warrented m8, thing is the more the mirror / shutter belts hell out of itself the more it could cost.

If your close enough to Canon at least you could drop it off and hopefully pick it up within a few days.
