Just recently bought a 2nd hand 1D MkIV. Today I noticed that the viewfinder information display on the bottom (Mode, Shutter, ISO etc) was very faint, the metering display was fine and bright. Also the top LCD display could only be read from certain angles.

I have sent an email to Canon UK, but was wondering if anybody else has had the same fault?

Update, using camera today the top LCD and the viewfinder information on the bottom are not working at all.

Not experienced this with mine at all, unfortunately it sounds like a fault with your particular body. It will need to be sent in to Canon so that they can assess it properly, I wouldn't be surprised though if moisture ingress may have caused the failure.

Have you contacted the seller to enquire as to why the fault has developed?

Hi Sam, I have been in touch with the seller, he wishes to sort out the problem by either a refund, repair or he has another 1D MkIV which I could have. Seems like he is a genuine guy and was shocked there was a problem.
I reinstalled the firmware just in case but no joy

It's good to read that the buyer is working with you to solve this; I'd have been very worried about it becoming an expensive paper weight. Generally speaking though the cameras are pretty reliable, so I'd certainly be interested to know what the outcome is.

Good luck.

Thanks for the interest Sam, I have been given a full refund from the seller and the camera has gone back to him. My mood has gone from despair on Sunday to happy this afternoon. Canon have been in touch with a few suggestions that had already tried. Probably something silly like a dry solder joint, but I probably won't know unless the seller let me know.
At least I know I want/need a MkIV, just need to source another at a decent price.
