Hello all

I finally got myself a 4 to 4 firewire cable but I am battling to get my 1Ds II connected...

Any ideas?

Much appreciated:thumbs::thumbs:

p.s.

I visited the Canon Europe site and found a 32 bit firewire patch...which won't install in my 64 bit Vista OS...

you can't be serious...:bang::bang::bang:

no compatibility setting somewhere in Windoze?

OOps now you know why 64bit O/S's aren't that popular.

I've had XP 64 bit and Vista Ultimate 64bit.

I now run XP Pro 32bit because all my legacy devices still work, including my 10 year old A3 printer :D

I asked Canon if they where doing 64bit stuff for my 5d2, I won't repeat their answer it was laughable.

Compatibility mode, well thats a funny thing. Compatible with what I ask.

to be fair the mk2 is getting on a bit now.. i know there are still a lot of mk2 users but i would imagine canon cannot justify writing the 64bit driver for one reason or another.

have you tried the USB? my mk3 works fine on W7 64bit, not tried FW though.

or like chaz said, card readers arent expensive.

use a card reader for transferring images of course but I think he's probably on about the P.Fn's. 32-bit's. I doubt a VM would work either because it's still a 64-bit OSunder a psuedonmym. (sp!?)

Spot on on the P Fns.

I have all the other goodies mentioned but I do think that it sucks that Canon won't write a 64 bit patch...surely I cannot be the only MKII user out there?

So I am somewhere between hobbyist and semi-pro and the wallet dictates but this does nothing to prevent me from wanting to cross over to the dark side...
