shutter count 148000 how much is it worth, and how much is a new shutter, and what else could need replacing, not thelatest firmwear but that can be upgraded.

Might be worth a call to Canon @ Elstree tomorrow, but I'm wondering if this would fall under their "fixed price" repair they offer - can't remember exactly how much it was, but £140-160 rings a bell ??

If it still works fine at 1/8000s speed then it is probably fine for another few years.

A shutter 'service' is around £200 for 1-series

There are many more things to check like potential moisture damage, LCD faults, sensor damage and so on.
