Any EF mount lens, so various versions of the 24-70mm f2.8L lens, or have a look at equivalents from Sigma, Tamron etc. There is no adapter that will fit EF-S lenses to a full frame body. The larger mirror on your camera would hit the rear element of an EF-S lens even if you did get it mounted. The EF-S lenses are for APS-C sensor size cameras

I have a sigma 17-50 but when used on the canon 1D MK4 the 4 corners of the image are black
yes that's an EF-S mount lens as well, the image circle will not cover your sensor. Apologies I thought your camera was FF but it's one of the old 1.3x crop cameras. The sensor is still bigger than APS-C so you'll get the dark corners using an EF-S lens.

I liked the 17-40f4L when I had a 1D with 1.3x crop.

EF17-40 and EF16-35 are both full frame wide angle zooms made by Canon.

I think they are L glass, and available in f4 and f2.8. I have used the 16-35mm f2.8 mk11 and it is a very sharp lens!

Did canon make a lens similar to the 17 -55 ef-s lens but in a ef lens
You have to see the 17-55 as a 24-70 for APSC (that was the design brief). That’s why you’re getting the responses you are 17-55 is roughly equal to 24-70

But as above, the 17-40 or 16-35 are the nearest you’ll find from Canon.

That said; I hated the 17-40, one of only 2 lenses that disappointed (the other being Sigmas 17-50)
