Hello everyone.

Just curious to hear from you all about the merits of this lens...As I will very likely never lay my grubby little claws on my own copy, is it worth the money?

Anyone who might own it or a Nikon equivalent?

Any example images maybe?

I've got a nikon one, it's a stonking lens, amazingly sharp and lovely bokeh

yes, i've been seduced by the charms of this lens too. i could never justify the price tag (unless of course i could make a good return on it), but the images like this are just awesome. no other word for it.

a stunning lens, probably the one of the best ever EF lenses optically. i just have to stop looking at what it can do before my credit card gets a melting.

it's interesting though, it's not that much longer than the 135 f/2 in the grand scheme of things, but the bokeh is really something else.
 
I wonder how long it will be before amazon start cancelling those orders

Hmm, chances of receiving this lens? Probably zero. I've ordered one and hoping for the best, it has been always been my dream to own a lens of this calibre, I guess I'll be dreaming on. :)

This reminds me of the Canon 10-22mm for £200ish on play.com a while ago... Loads of the forum members went to buy them, but play.com figured out the cock up! Luckily (for Mark) this is out of the range of a lot of the members on here, so there might not be toooo many orders for it.

Me too, credit card so safe, not really my money.
 
The Amazon reseller is a company called Soteluk, I had a look at their storefront and it seems the vast majority of the products, from lens hoods to the lens in question is £1173. Hmmmm, seems like it might be a software problem at their end.

Amazon UK are still selling at over £7K
 
but the clause in the confirmation emails means that they are in breach of contract if they don't sent it too me, surely?
 
anyone also see the 1DS mk3 for 1173.05??

and the 5D mk2 24-70 and 24-105 kits are both 1173.05

do i risk it on a 1DS??

Apparently 'my' lens is being prepared for despatch and can't be cancelled. All automation
I guess, the next step will be 'Order cancelled' I can imagine. :lol:
 
sadly i wont be ordering anything as i have recently brought a canon 100mm macro f2.8l
 
Damn barclaycard blocked five of mine as suspected fraud! Had to change them all to other cards lol! What hassle! I hate it when they do that!!

I'm awaiting my 6 being prepared for despatch emails!!

my credit card has been billed already - surely a contract has been made at this point and they have to supply the goods?
