Hi
does anyone have this lens I have the 70-200 f2.8
and was going to upgrade to the 200 f2
I shoot horse cross country and motor sport will the 200 give me better quality shots. my camera MK4. thank you bob

The 200/2 is probably the most stunning 200mm lens in existence.. I'd kill for one. That said, is 200mm enough for you? I'd probably keep the 70-200 on one body and put a 300/2.8 on another. Also a killer lens.

Yes I have the 300 and it's a stunning lens but sometimes just a bit to long
thought the 200 would be a great second lens

Or get a full frame camera (5DII for example) and use the 300mm on it when you need something shorter

Of course if you can warrant paying £4000 for the 200mm f2 then go ahead, I would have ;)

Better quality shots? It's f/2, if that means better.

The 200 f2 is for low light situations, if you are going to be using outside what is wrong with a 70-200...

Where do you think your current shots are lacking at 200mm?

Only when you can answer that do I think we can help you with your question

Hi the question was more would you get better images from a prime lens of this quality than a 70-200 zoom
I would like to enlarge to A3/A2
thanks

The images from the 200 mm lens are stunning but on a Mk 4 the focusing speed is fast like the 300 mm. For your main interests a real advantage. Why not hire one for a few days before you decide?

The 200L f2.0 is considerably better than any zoom at f2.0, if you look at the Digital Picture then you can easily see that the f2 lens is better at f2 than the new 70-200L f2.8 IS Mk2 zoom is at 200 and f2.8.

But the zoom is better at 70mm through 190mm, is less than half the price, will out resolve all but the best sensors and is less weighty.

If I had the money I would have the f2, the additional sharpness and pop would be worth it for me!

Have shot cross country and found the 120-300mm Sigma had the most useful range. The new sigma mark II OS version may be worth a look when it is for sale?
