Hi All,i am thinking about getting this lens,but my thinking is because its been out a while does anyone know if canon plans to replace it in the near future,

doubt it. Any future replacement would be significantly more expensive (eg 70-200 f2.8 IS)

Some lenses have been out since 90's and are still being made!

Just buy one...they're GREEEEEAT!
