Canon 250D 52mm close up lens filter on Panasonic G Micro Lens

I've recently invested in a Panasonic G2 micro 4/3 system with 3 lenses: 20mm/f1.7, 14-42mm/f3.5-5.6 and a 45-200mm/f4-5.6. the 20mm takes 46mm filters and the other two takes 52mm filters.

I've just moved from P&S, and am loving every minute of my new hobby.

I would like to try some MACRO photography, and there are almost no options for the micro 4/3 system apart from the LEICA DG MACRO-ELMARIT 45mm / F2.8 ASPH.

I simply cannot afford that lens, or justify it for hobby purposes..

Can some one please suggest a cheaper solution for MACRO?

I am not looking for MASSIVE blow ups, just the regular flower/insect shot.

Is the CANON 250D conversion lens filter, at 52mm a viable option?

Have a go with a Raynox DCR-250 or 150 - £40 from Amazon. Really very good for the money, and probably better than the Canon (which is a doublet, Raynox is a triplet).

What would be the difference between the Raynox 250 and the 150? Magnification power?

And on which lens should I use it? the 20mm or the zooms?

Amazon states the specs of the Raynox 250 as:

# Front thread for filter 49mm
# Lens-sided thread 43mm

How will i put it on my 46mm or 52mm lenses if its 43mm thread?

Sorry if my questions sound totally stupid, but I'm a total novice..

No problem :)

There are two versions of the Raynox DCR - the 250 (+8 diopters) and the 150 (4.8d). The Canon 250D is +2.5d, so both Raynox attachments will go much closer.

The 250 is good for bugs and beetles, the 150 more for flowers and butterflies - take a look at a few thousand images here http://www.flickr.com/groups/raynoxdcr250/

It usually works best on a medium tele zoom like your 45-200. Don't worry about those thread sizes - you can use it like that via a stepping ring if you like, but it comes with spring-loaded clip-on adapter that fits any lens from 52-67mm.

Not strictly true that, according to the instructions with mine the Canon 250d is 4 dioptres, the 500/500d are both 2 dioptres, the numbers refer to the minimum focussing distances :)

Arrgh! My bad :eek: You're right, of course it's +4 dioptres. 1000/250=4 :bonk: Apologies.
