Hello,

At the weekend I started experiencing some issues with my 30D. Thursday I received a battery grip I had ordered from Amazon, not a official Canon one, but a third party one. I attached it with no problems and began shooting to test it out, as I needed it for a festival I was doing at the weekend. How ever when it came to Friday afternoon, I arrived at the festival, and went to the photo pit to get ready to shoot, when my camera was not turning on. I was puzzled as both batteries in the grip were 100% charged, so I ran back to the press area in a panic. I took off the battery grip and put the battery cover back on, and it was still not turning out. I had 4 batteries with, all fully charged and not one would power it. In the end another photographer worked out that the battery cover was not putting enough pressure on the camera, so in came the gaffer tape which fixed the problem temporarily.

It happened again a couple of times over the weekend, and I just ended up replacing the gaffer tape to make it stronger. Today I've sat and had a proper look in the battery area and have noticed that where the battery cover attaches too, there appears to be a small screw missing on the right side so its quite loose that side, and thats the side I have been having to hold down for there to be power! so my question is, has anyone else experienced this before, and also does anyone know the type of screw I would need to be able to sort this problem out?

Thanks,

Justine

I assume that you're talking about the screw that holds the silver hinge to the body (the hinge being the piece that the door clips in to).
If this is the case then the Canon part # is XA1-3170-207 and you should be able to get one from Lemanns parts department http://www.hlehmann.co.uk/7.html
