Canon 35mm 1.4L II Announced

It will be VERY interesting to see how good this lens is. Sigma have been eating Canon's lunch recently with the Art series of primes, and the 35mm f/1.4 Art is exceptionally sharp. The 'old' Canon focuses faster, and to my mind has nicer colour rendition and bokeh, but those are subjective and it's the quantifiable resolution and the DXO scores that grab the headlines. So have Canon improved on the Sigma's sharpness, and if so has it come at the expense of other aspects of image quality? We'll find out soon.

I wonder how sharp the samples are going to be.
Have the original 35 L and i really like the colour and rendition it gives.
Just have to wait and see but I bet it will be quite an expensive upgrade.

I have the Sigma but I still want this. Badly.

Even before the reviews arrive, I know this lens is going to be amazing.

Once it drops to around £1k on import I'll likely upgrade from my Sigma but that could be a while.

Better wait and see if it's actually better than the Sigma.

It will be, the question is by how much and whether it's worth the premium.

Looking forward to this lens. I have the original 35L and I love it. The MTF charts look amazing.

It's like Canon got a bit annoyed with Sigma and worked their ass off for a slam dunk against them.

How much are we talking on import do you think?
