Anyone own/use a Canon EF 35mm f/2 lens? Seems quite a decent price at around £217 new. I use a 5D MkI.

Would appreciate any thoughts/views/advice regards this EF 35mm f/2 lens. Any photo's taken would be great to see.

I think its fantastic. Small, light and great pictures. Took me 2 months to get one once I had decided as there was a shortage in the UK but so glad I waited. Focus motor is 'buzzy' but only noticeable when hunting and even then its not that bad.
On my camera 90% of the time. I'd advise anyone to get one.
I'll post some pictures when back at my PC.

Nice for landscape as well, when you don't want to lug about a hunk of glass. This was when I had my 7D. I found the 50mm not wide enough. Like I say the 35mm is on my camera 90% of the time. Take it to work with me and everywhere.

I've used mine on a 5d and it's very good on FF as well. Hard to see how you can improve unless you buy the 1.4L.
 
It's great on full frame. Some reviews seem to get very 'sniffy' about using anything but 'L' glass on a full frame.
 
I really wanted the 35mm 1.4 as my next lens, never even considered the f2, some fantastic images folks.

Edit: For £219 I just ordered one from Amazon, got a few weeks wait though

I use it on my 1dmkIV its a fantastic lens.. one of those I would never get rid of for any reason lens :) works good at night with high iso
 
Thanks Anthony, I love this lens and all the talk of it lately made me go through a few shots I've taken with it and it never fails to give me good shots!

Kipax - totally agree, I've even used it for indoor dressage when the light was really bad!
 
As pointed out earlier to me today, Argos (believe it or not!) have them for £178!! I paid only slightly less than that for a used one, though to be fair mine is a 2010 lens.

Whether they actually have them in stock is another thing...

Absolute bargain of the century. However (out of interest), its showing out of stock anywhere near me, and completely out of stock for home delivery but available in some stores for reserve and collection? Strange.

I wonder what would happen if you ordered one through Argos though? Surely they would have to honor it and supply it, as it guarantees the price until 2012?! Possibly they are special order via their suppliers?

I'm happy to make do with the f/2 until I can afford such luxuries though!

That is an amazing price from Argos. I got mine 2nd hand for £160. Almost tempted to get another.

If I did want one now I would be tempted to place the order then call them and ask when it will be ready. If it will be a week or two it would be a lot shorter than the two months I waited. You can always cancel if they don't give a satisfactory answer.

BTW have you checked the prices of the 17-40L and the 10-22 from argos.

No I couldnt see many other lenses (those included) as I did search to see if they had any other bargains. The only note worthy ones were half price Canon x1.4 and x2 TCs.

Edit - found them (appalling search engine on their website, won't find it under 'canon 10-22' only 'canon lens'!) again, superb bargains! But again they are 'online exclusives' with no stock?

If someone wanted those lens then even if there was a two week wait they are stunning bargains. Never bought anything from Argos that I didn't pick up straight away so not sure how it works.
