Canon 400d or not

HI all. Using a canon 400d at the moment (borrowed) which im considering to purchase. It includes a 18-55mm canon lens and a tamron 55-200m lens and a 2gig card and bag and flash all for about 400 pound. Ive been saving a while now so got the chance either to purchase this camera or keep saving for a new model.
I would be very grateful for opinions on this

hmm... £400 quid seems a little steep for second hand to me.

seems to suggest you can pick up a 400d with a kit lens and memory card for much less. the tamron seems to be selling for 60 quid new.

i'd keep saving, personally. you can probably pick up a decent 500d with a kit lens for not much more than that.

Christ!!!!! The 400D is an old unit now, I think it was replaced with the 450D shortly after I purchased mine in 2007!

You can pick the bodies up 2nd hand on MPB for just over £200.

I paid just over £200 for a 400D a couple of years back. You can pick up an 18-55 kit lens for around £30-40 (and I think they are reasonable optics especially for the money). The Tamron lens was about £100 new and as said are down to about £60 now.
Depends what flashgun I suppose, but this rather sounds like it was a Jessops package so a cheapy flashgun?

There's a 450D with kit lens for £300 in the TP for sale section, so I'd offer £250-300 for the package depending on condition.

I'd agree with the above, it does seem to be a little on the pricey side.

If you are happy with the Camera, lenses etc, then make him a good offer and justify how you got to that price (as above), everyone loves a bargain and the seller will want a good price, just make sure you don't pay over the odds.
