Canon 400D to Canon 30D - A good move?

Yes
I currently use a 400D which I have had for about two years. I have to work on a small budget and the opportunity to obtain a 30D body has arisen. My problem is deciding if this is a good move and would I benefit from changing? The body would be used with a Canon 100 - 400 lens.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this possible change.

Many thanks

Kevin

I made the exact move and it turned out to be a great decision. The 30D beats the 400 in pretty much every department except for resolution think the 400 is 10mp and 30 is 8.2.

The xx series are much better built, the 400D will feel like a toy compared to the 30

Go for it

That's exactly the move I recently made and I haven't regretted it one bit.
The 30D just feels so much better to use. After about a week of using the 30D, I tried the 400 again and it felt like a toy.

Hi Kevin

don't think you'd regret it, I went from a 300D (my daughter now has it and loves it) to a 40D, don't regret it all and the bigger size feels better.

Slightly different but i went from a 400D to a 50D recently and it's night and day in terms of how the camera feels. As has been said, the 400D feels like a toy now!! :)

I too moved from a 400D to a 30D (popular route it seems!) and I loved it. The 30D wins hands down everytime :)
