Canon 400mm f2.8 for 3000 quid?!

Today I advertised my 40D + grip on a Dubai selling site and after making my post I had a look at what else was for sale and spotted a new 400mm f2.8 for the equivalent of 3000 quid (WE sells them for about 6K). Seems too good to be true?!

Well, if you're already there maybe you can arrange a trial to test the lens thereby verifying it to be a good deal or otherwise?

older non IS version?

I believe that version is a bit of a beast in terms of weight (not that the newer IS version is light).
