Yes
I used my 400mm yesterday. As I took off the hood to put it away the bottom part of the silver tightener on top has fell off the screw. Does anyone know if you can get this repaired??? Anyone else had the same problem??

mine is only held on with one screw, so would be interested in your outcome.

A new lens is £500 so I'm trying to find another way. Ha.

I just got the parts for my 400mm Nikon hood when I needed to fix it, very little in terms of complexity or sophistication and no electronics or optics ! If you are CPS you might find the odd screw is sent FOC.

Otherwise you are talking small numbers of pence. Worth a look to see if you can do it yourself rather than have to pay a CPS tech and lose the lens for a few days.

Looked on the net now for that part and can't find nowt.

You are very very unlikely to get it "on the 'net"

A part that small and specialised will likely only be available from the Canon service centre or parts centre. Nikon have a specific parts team and a separate number but I can't comment for Canon. You might want to try phoning Canon Service at Borehamwood or possibly Fixation in Vauxhall.

Yeah I'm gonna give fixation a ring this morning. I bought the lens from them so I'm hoping they can help.

Same thing happened to my 300mm lens hood. Tried a couple of the Canon spare parts outlets in the UK, one of which replied that only the whole lock assembly was available at £70.

I could see it was just a circlip that was missing off the end of the screw section hat keeps the blade part connected. Phoned Canon CPS, and they gave me a part number for just the e clip, and using this part number I was able to order it from one of the part suppliers: XD2-1100-202

The part costs about 80p, but with a minimum order of £5, I was able to order 5 of them for this price and they will arrive in a few weeks time. In the meantime, a local fastener and fixings shop had a 2.3mm e clip in stock (the 1.6mm was too small) and it fits the groove in the screw perfectly but is very slightly wider overall. You can just feel a slight resistance twice per rotation when lessening or tightening the knurled screw. Not 100% perfect, but it will keep the lens hood in place and removable until the Canon parts arrive in a few weeks :)
