I have recently got a 40D as a back up to my 7D and am wondering if like my 7D threre is any way for the shooting info, ie shutterspeed , ISO, Av etc to be permanently displayed on the main LCD. When i turn the camera on the screen is blank and you need to press ther info button to shot the above. However as soon as you take a shot the info disappears until you press info again

Any help appreciated

Pressing info twice works on the 50D but not sure if it works on the 40D Stan.

I have both and I didn;t think that it remained
but pressing INFO On mine brings it up
and then it comes back after image review

I can't find a setting to alter this behaviour tbh
do you have the latest firmware?

There is its one of the settings within the menus, can't remember which but I've five it on mine before

I think for what you want go to menu, first yellow spanner, info button put into shoot func. Then when in shooting mode press info button and that should give you what you want.

I think anyway

Thanks guys

just found that and now once you have pressed the info button the display does stay on automatically after taking a shot but then after reviewing a shot on the LCD it goes back to blank and then you have to press the info button again. My 7D display stays on all the time including after reviewing a shot but perhaps that is just the way it is with a 40D ?

Whats the latest firmware - mine is version 1.0.5

right, do you mean after manually reviewing the shot by pressing play?
that would reset it to off I think
however, if you have review time 2s or more, then you don't manually activate the review process and the info screen comes back

thats right, you then need to press info to get the display back

if you have review time 2s or more, then you don't manually activate the review process and the info screen comes back

it does, its now just if you review shot manually later on you then have to press info to re activate the display.

Assume that is how it is with the 40D.
