Hello,

I don't know where my problem come from. But recently I started to noticed some very bad noise in the shadows of my picture. I first started to think it was my ISO too high but even with some iso pretty low I got some horrible results. I'm not a very good photographer but I have had a digital for 3 years and had good result I don't know what has changed!

Here are a few exemple, all are really cropped, the pictures have been shot in raw, no process, cropped and resized using photo filtre.

horrible noise shooted with sigma 30mm iso 250 f1/4 1/100sec

shot at iso250 70mm f/4.5 1/400sec

iso 100 f/2.8 1/125sec

same than above but to show that even at iso 100 and a a nice sharp picture when you are getting close to the shaddow there is some dodgy effect.

Actually looking at the post it looks more horrible when looking the picture in lightroom 4. Any idea what is happening is it the screen of my quiet recent computer? Is it the new lightroom 4? Is it the sensor of my camera?

Not really sure what your problem is I can't see much noise at all. They all look massively under exposed are you pushing the exposure in post as that will always make it worse!

+1 looks to me like under exposure.
My old 40d didnt like underexposing much.

Now you say it, this is maybe making sens. I think in good light condition I don't have the problem but when I am in low light I have it.
I can't put much the iso because it get pretty ugly. But then it get underexposed and generated some really bad things in the shadows that get worse at post processing.

The picture I linked aren't processed. But they do look worse in the screen in lightroom.

How far do you puch the iso on your 40D?

Shooting raw and processing in Lightroom, ISO 400 is good and 800 is usable with the 40D.
