Not released yet, but CHDK is generally quite good. I wouldn't use it if my camera was in warranty, but I bought used so it doesn't matter.

Love my 40D, it is bullet proof and makes a tremendous 2nd hand buy at the moment. I also think the 30D is a great bit of kit too (awesome for a first time dslr)

yes, I certainly wouldn't buy a 40D relying on using CHDK, it's just an interesting possibility.
