i have a canon 430EX flash and (how can i explain this) there are if you like two parts to it, the top flashlight part and the lower LCD buttons part, now if you hold the top and the bottom in each hand, it seems that the two parts on mine are not fixed tight, there is actually play/movement between the two.
(if you can understand what i mean) can anyone confirm that theirs is the same....................sorry if i'm not coming across very clearly..:help:
 
Push in circular button on the side and it'll have LOADS of play, you can point it in all kinds of directions! Don't worry about it, and experiment with pointing it in different places to see what effect it has on the outcome!

thanks for the replies people, but it's not the swivel and tilt bit i'm talking about...................

there is slight free play, when they're locked in position, on both of my 430EX's.i assume thats what you meant.

inaneredstripe, you have it, that's exactly what i'm talking about, it seems that whatever position they are locked in, there still seems to be a bit of freeplay.......
i was wondering if something in mine had perhaps come loose, but it sounds like yours are similar.......................thanks for your help..again..:clap:
 
Ah right, fair enough! I just checked with mine, and there's a bit of play too, nothing to worry about! I'm guessing it's because to eliminate all the play together, the locking mechanism would have to be so tight you'd never be able to unlock it again to swivel/tilt!

bit late to this one, but I have mine to hand and can also confirm that there is a slight amount of play when locked in any position.

AND.....

My diffuser always falls off unless I tape it. :)
