Canon 450 to 5D Mk2

I have a Canon 450D with the following;

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM
Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II
Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM

I've decided to bite the bullet and switch to full frame, keeping my 450 body as a backup.

So, with the 5d Mk2, I was going to get the 24-70mm f2.8 L. From what I understand, the Sigma 10-20 won't work in the 5d (well it will fit, but you can't get any use less than 16mm), the 50mm and the 70-300 will work fine.

I'm starting to shoot more portaits now, hence the 24-70. My dilemma is, do I sell the 10-20 and 70-300 and swap them for a 70-200 f4 L ...

Plus, I shoot the occasional landscape, so would 24 not be wide enough as I've been use to 10-20 (16-32) on my 450. I also shoot the occasional motor sport - and I know the 5d Mk2 isn't fast - but its a tad faster than the 450, so its something I'll live with.

I did this exact swap.

Went from a 450D with Sigma 10-70, 17-55 f/2.8 and 70-200 f4 IS

to

5D Mark II, 17-40 f/4, 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f4 IS and added a 1.4x extender

I made do with the 24-70 for landscapes for about 10 months before I went for the 17-40 as an UWA.

full frame is an expensive business, even if you go the second hand 5D and second hand glass route.

Worth it though.

It's a better camera, it's better lenses.

Personally if I were to do mostly portraits then I'd get a 85/1.8 and a 135L for the price of a 24-70.
