Canon 450d ISO range

It's best to use the lowest iso that will allow you to get the shot, if you can't get the shot at iso 400 take it up a notch or two. Better a slightly noisy shot you can work on in pp than no shot.

It's not great over ISO400, but if you shoot RAW and have a decent noise removal tool it's not too bad.

ISO 1600 is perfectly usable on the 450D as long as you expose correctly (or even better, slightly over, and reduce the exposure in PP).

That was taken at ISO 1600 on a 450D, no Noise Reduction. It's just a shame my focus wasn't perfect!

I actually wish the 450D went up to ISO 3200 and 6400 because it would be more than capable of doing it. I guess that's marketing for you!

Dont be affraid to use a higher ISO than 400, as said already the camera will produce usable results at a higher ISO as long as the exsposure is good. PP noise reduction is a great tool and another thing worth remembering is noise IMO is more noticable on a 24" pc screen than it is on a print.

Good point!

I was actually really suprised with how good the 450d was at High ISO. Having come from a Nikon D700, I was ready to be disapointed with anything above 400, but in reality I can quite happily go to 1600 and still have a prefectly usable shot.
