Hey Guys,
Have recently bought myself a Canon 500D (Friday) and for the first time today I used the movie mode with the included 18-55mm lens whilst in the garden. Now I am completely new to a movie mode on an SLR camera ....
I mounted the camera on a tripod and tried to film a woodpigeon on the lawn some distance away (I am getting a telephoto lens later this month) and used the 'magnification button' (top right on the back of the camera) to zoom in by 5x and the bird filled the frame.
However when I then pressed the record button it zoomed back out again and it wouldn't let me zoom in during recording mode.
Am I doing something wrong or is the magnification mode just to aid focusing pre shooting?
