Hi guys, the battery door fell off my 500d. I clipped it back in place but now the camera wont power up ?? Im wondering if anything else may have fallen out with the door ???

Would it be best to send off or is it something I can mend myself.

Make sure the SD/memory card door is fully closed. (Yes I got caught out once)

if the battery fell out , check that it isnt damaged (and that its in the right way round) - you might also want to try a different one in case its a battery fault

also check the contacts for the door

There aren't any contacts on the door, its just plastic and designed to snap out and then in again, you take it off completely when using a grip.

To the OP.

Make sure the little plastic part on the right hand side of the battery compartment that holds the battery in place is still there and working.

Hi Guys, Ive just had a quote. Turns out its something called the dcdc lead ??? Got a quote from recommended Canon services at Colchester. £180 for the repair. £40 parts, the rest is labour and vat. Quite expensive but i need it sorting as off to scotland soon and want to use it there.

£220 quid for a repair?...you thought about spending that on a used 40/50D? Better cameras.
