Canon 500d

Alright guys.

My dads looking at buying the 500d with the kit lens.

Can anyone who has or has had this camera and lens tell me if it's any good? Cheers

It's a very good camera, however it wouldn't be easier to judge if it's more suited to him or not if we knew a little more about him. Has he used SLR's much before? If not then I think it would be a perfect choice to get started.

I have had mine for almost a year now. It's a good all-rounder and not too large unlike the xxd models

He used to have a canon slr so he's looking at canons as he still has two lenses. A sigma 70-210mm and an 18-75mm or something.

I bought mine about 2 weeks ago and he loves topping me so he's got a better one then me.

Got it for about £775 with insurance, bag, memory card, filter etc from Jessops.
