Canon 50D - bargain?

A friend at work has just upgraded and has offered me his immaculate Canon 50D with battery grip for £200 (4.5k actuations).

Apart from biting his hand off - anything I need to watch out for with this model? Would a service be a good idea as its not been used for a year?

Coming from a 350d so this thing feels like a brick :D
 
£200 is a steal!! They're worth almost double that with a grip so don't ask daft questions, just pony up the dough and buy it! :lol:
No need to have it serviced unless there's any issues with it like dust etc.
I have one and though it wasn't much of an upgrade on my 40D I'm extremely happy with it.
 
Ask if you can have a look at it but it seems like a great deal to me, worry about servicing and stuff after. Apparently taking a shot of a white wall at f22 gives a good indication of whether the sensor needs cleaning but according to Canon its £30, anything else you can clean yourself; youve still got a bargain on your hands.
 
Thanks for the advice chaps.

Got it home with me at the moment but seeing as I've lent the 350d to the inlaws - not got a lens to play with until the weekend. Although I'm sure I had a kit lens kicking around in the loft somewhere - must go and find that....

Its mine... All mine!

He even threw in a remote thing as well that I have no idea what it does. Now I get to start thinking about lenses for it.
