Canon 50D high pitch beep on switch on/off

Hello, i have just noticed a high pitch beep that occurs twice on switching on and again twice when switching off. Is this just the sensor cleaning as it happens when the logo is on the screen? Is it normal or should i be concerned?

my canon 60d makes a noise like yours its not very loud though. i wouldnt worry about it.

If it's more a squeek it's more than likely the senor cleaning especially with the logo on the screen. It's the nanites racing across the screen with a squeegee

have you tried turning off the sensor cleaning within the menus and does the squeak go away ?

My 5D2 and 5D3 never made high pitch sound when doing the auto clean. However I borrowed a 7D and it did exactly what you described.

I've had good amount of canon cameras(inc 40D, 50D, 60D) and they have never did anything like this

it is the sensor cleaning, high pitched squeak on start up and shut off.

most of the Eos range have the function and some will make the noise
