My nifty fifty has an odd issue, the AF is Really loud!
I didn't use it for a few weeks then got it out again and thought it was louder but just assumed it was because I have gotten used to using quieter lens.
However I was with somebody I knew had the same lens, and asked to hear how hers sounded. The difference was staggering mine was ALOT noisier. Where as hers was a quite high pitch noise, (like any non USM lens) mine sounds a lot deeper and grindy(for lack of a better word!)
Other than the noise the lens is perfect it focuses quickly and delivers sharp images.
Is this common? Is there an easy (cheap) fix?
Another thing I have been eyeing up the MK1 version of this lens with the metal mount, I have been told it is exactly the same optically just the newer one is built to a price, would it be worth going for the Mk1 version would the better built quality be better than anything it would lose through being a lot older?
