Yes
had a quick search and found a few threads comparing the lens to another but on its own is it a decent lens.

i have in my bag a 7d with stock lens 18-135 im selling the tamron 70-300 and replacing that with a canon 28-300 this weekend.

so my question is, is it worth getting a 50mm as there only about 80 quid plus im getting a jessops voucher from a mate and her brother works there so with his discount hopefully i wont have to put much to it.

or is the kit lens decent enough. the 28-300 will prob be my main lens as i wanna tog bikes so will be practicing with that and poss a 2 converter as well. but if i ever take pics of mates or at a mates wedding etc will the 50mm be better that kit?

bit of a long winded way of asking that really but thought it might help knowing what kind of pics i wanna take most.

thanks for the help in advance.

Personally my 50mm 1.8 is my favourite lens as im always happy with the results. I only ever use it for portrait style photos though as i find thats where it shines through and my zooms are little more practical for everything else, although i would like to try out a smaller prime lens for landscapes.

bought one the other day from Jessops infact. The first one i tried was very soft wide open so took another one, which i ended up taking back as that was soft too. The one i got now is mint though. :-)

I Love my Nifty Fifty, 50mm F1.8 heres a shot with it
