Am going to buy a 50mm f1.8 for the 50D ... seems rude not to considering the price.

Just wondering if there is any difference between the MKI and MKII apart from price (and metal body).

Other than those stated by you, the only other difference I am aware of is build quality and the presence of a distance scale on the mk1

I think the filter thread is non-rotating on mk1. mk1 will be quite old and may contain mould so be careful

I believe they take different lens hoods
