I have just managed to secure a Canon 550d body from Mathers of Lancashire.

They had a few body's and kits available when they called an hour ago and these things are like rocking horse poo at the moment!! Park cameras said they have been waiting 2 months for these and this batch and the next are all spoken for.

Good luck!

I'm only five weeks into my wait so it looks like I've had it easy. I checked Amazon earlier this week and they were advertising one to three months (yes, months) for the bodies and one to three weeks for kits. Other sources have confirmed that kits are relatively easy to get ahold of but bodies are are another issue entirely.

i got a body only on 31st may after a good search about
they were blaming the ash cloud then for lack of deliveries

I called Mathers Tuesday lunch time and they phoned me late this afternoon with a couple of units where people have pre ordered them but have managed to either get elsewhere or gone for something else.

It's all in the timing.

So Terry, is it as good as it sounds?

On 2 June I walked into the local Costco (big box membership club store) to see if the T2i was back on display. This camera appears and disappears constantly from their display area.

Everything was in my favor, the camera was back in stock, my wife was at home (most important), and the price was $799.99 in standard kit form (18-55mm lens). I couldn't pass up this deal. I am now short on $$$ but long on camera !!!!
I purchased a fotodiox adapter to fit my Nikon lenses to the 350D some months ago.
The fun has already begun !!!

Well done. As said it's all in the timing!!

I'll have to start a 550d appreciation thread now! :D
