Canon 550D - which 10 stop for newbie?

Folks,

I have a Canon 550D and I'm looking at getting into long exposure daytime photography as my new 'challenge' for 2012.

I've been reading a lot of threads on here and I'm planning to get a 10-stopper.

I've read good thinks about the Lee Big Stopper of course, but the new HiTech equivalent gets good reviews too and is easier to get my hands on!

I think I'd prefer a square rather than a screw fit ND filter as I'll probably want to add more filters in the future and I'm lazy when it comes to unscrewing/screwing/unscrewing the filter when out with the camera.

Are there any other 10 stops I should consider as a newbie to this and anything else I need to buy with my ND filter? Would I need a filter holder or can I as others have suggested fasten it on with plenty of blu-tack? :lol:

Bit brave to attach a ~£90 filter with blue tack! Go for a filter holder :p

You'll need to have something handy to cover up the viewfinder when taking the shot, otherwise you'll get reflections on the photo. There's probably something on your neck strap (there is on my 60D strap).
 
I think there is something on the neck strap.
The blu-tack suggestion was probably tongue in cheek ;)
