I purchased the Canon 5600f yesterday and I thought it would scan MF (Medium Format). Now I'm not so sure! I read up on this and I saw places report that it was able for the job, but after doing a search again today I'm getting mixed reports .

It has a nice holder for the 35mm but none for MF. And if you select the scan type as "Film" it doesn't have an option for MF, only 35mm :|.

I've seen people on this forum say it scans MF fine. How are you doing this? Or is it actually possible? Maybe I'm missing something and there's an extra part I can buy, and a software upgrade I can apply so that it supports it?

Any advice is much appreciated! Before I decide to take this baby back and fork out an extra £200~ on an Epson V700... something I would like to avoid doing if possible. I'm nuts but I'm not loaded

Just to add. I did try scanning MF normally (not using film scan type) but I wasn't overly impressed. I think the matt back messes up the clear parts on the negative. And to be honest, photographing them from my D300 turns out better

i have the 5600f and it doesnt scan medium format, well to the best of my knowledge anyways.

At the moment I'm tending to agree. I can't see straight off how it can scan MF. But I have seen some posters here on TP say they also use it for MF so if they could let me how they are doing this I might not need to fork out more money on a different scanner.
