Canon 580EX II External Battery Pack - Recommendations please.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an external power pack? I have some events coming up I'd rather not have to be swapping AA's out every 30mins. The Canon one seems a bit expensive to me, any alternatives people would recommend?

Yea that's the kind of thing I'm after - there seem to be a few similar types about on Google, just wondered if anyone was using one :) Oh needs to be fairly readily available since I'm running last minute and need something by next weekend :bonk:
 
How many pics are you taking? I used high capacity rechargables, 2 fresh sets and rarely do I change to the 2nd set, (on a 480ex though) about 1000 pics on a set.

Good question, and I'm not sure to be honest, most likely around the 1k mark at a guess. I took a risk and got one of THESE of Amazon - worth a try I think.
 
That's the one I've got Rob and it works well. I used it at Whitby Goth Weekend and again at Venice Carnival, using flash for every shot I didn't need to change batteries. At each weekend I took over 1000 shots. I use the Duracell stay charged rechargeable batteries and have a set in the 580 as well.
