Canon 5D Classic battery door removal

On th 5Dmk2 there is a spring loaded pin (very small) you need to pull to release the door. Not sure if it is the same on mk1.
 
Marcus, I just found a copy of part of the battery grip manual from when I had a 5D - as it shows you just need to move the door gently to one side which compresses/releases the spring pin and then move the door upwards.

I had a similar issue with my 40D - different connector from the 300D I had.
