I've seen a 5Dmkii for sale at the price i want to pay, <1000 actuations since it's been mainly used for shooting video. It's 3 years old.

The body is said to be in excellent condition.

1000 actuations is great, but should I be concerned about wear+tear from video usage? I guess that's hard to measure.

I'd say with that relatiely meager shutter count you have nothing to worry about; I'm sure many 5DmkIIs do ten times that whilst still in their warranty period, so I'd imagine the camera has spent most of it's three years sitting in a camera bag! Of course, like anything else, you may encounter a random problem that can't be accounted for beforehand, but the shutter count and a description of it's external condition are the best guides to it's overall state, sight unseen. If you think the price is right then go for it :thumbs:
 
There should be next to no wear and tear.

The shutter opens and stays open when videoing so wants the camera is set it only has to shut the shutter when you finish.

One shutter actuation per shoot of footage.

So nope if it's minty and the right price go for it, they are brilliant bodies :D
 
It's £1200 with a small scratch on the LCD, sound good? Comes with a spare battery and 2 cheap CF cards
 
Apparently HDew sell them brand new for £1,389. Grey imports they may well be, but there's another thread on here that has quite a few posts saying their warranty is perfectly decent. I think Kerso sells the 5D2 for not much more than that, and his warranty is defintely pukka.
 
I've recently been looking at these and echo the advice above! Given the obscene prices these seem to hold second hand, I'm pretty much sold on getting a new one from kerso or HDew!!
Personally i'm just hanging on for the 5d3 details to see if canon do any decent deals on the mkii!

HDew's site doesn't seem to be working... hmm Kerso is just shy of £1500 too.

Yeah, normally I would buy something immediately and not wait for the next one (how many 'next ones' do you wait for? ) but with the decision so close it seems silly not to wait!
 
well £1400 on a new Canon 5D MkII is pretty good by today's standards- and I have 7 days upon receipt to return it :)

However I'd been itching to get it for a little whilst and I already have a lens to use it.. so I'm silly :) I can't wait.
