Yes
I have a wedding to do at the weekend , always used my mk 1 5d's , but now have two mk 2's ...

I just wanted to know if anyone bothers with the hd vid ... and if so how good are the results

cheers

The result of the HD video from the mk2 can be amazing. However, it largely depends on how good you are at it. It can be difficult to nail the manual focus while looking at the little LCD screen, not to mention holding the camera still if not using tripod.

Search youtube for example videos shot with the camera. Philip Bloom has done some nice ones.

like everything else really practice ... When i gor em i really wasn't bothered about the vid side of the mk 2 .. But if i do use it i will do it and not tell them , I would just sit it on a tripod and a wide angle lens to capture the event and give it to them as a free gift if any good ..

If that is sat on a tripod i can use the other 5d to get the stills ..

I can't even remember how to switch it on with mine... It's not something I ever wanted on a stills camera but I guess it's there just in case. :)

Try these setting when shooting video:

Manual Mode (M)

Shutter Speed: 1/50 (if recording 25fps)
ISO: 160 (and the multiples of 2)

Create a Picture Profile setting as:

Sharpness: all the way to the left
Contrast: all the way to the left
Saturation: -2
