Canon 5d Mk1 v 500d

All other things equal (lens, subject, settings, etc.) would you expect the images from an early 5d (12Mpx) to be noticeably better than a more modern 500d (15Mpx)

I've had both, and while the 500D is a very capable performer, the 5D is in a different class build / functionality wise and image quality wise.

Not had a 500d, but the difference in IQ between a 40d and 5d is amazing, for an old camera the 5d has a kind of magical (film like?) feel to the images it produces in the right hands, get one you won't regret it...

id say its down to the photographer, but essentially... yes its a more capable camera!

My first full frame was the 5D1, wow what a camera, got a 5D11 now but still wish I kept the 5D1. No comparison to a 500D, different league!!
