Can someone explain why when I enable af-on it metres as well.
From my understanding when using the Af-on button AF only and Meter and shoot with shutter button . Tried different settings in cf still AF and metering with af-on button any one help. Just want AF not AF and metering on the af-on button.

It's standard.
Why would you not want the camera metering while AF is engaged? If it wasn't metering too, the camera wouldn't be ready to take a shot while Servo Af was tracking for example.
I could see the problem if it was locking the exposure when it shouldn't be as opposed to just metering + AF on the back button, but you've not said it's doing that. Is that what you mean?

With back button AF you can still let go the back button to disengage AF, and the shutter button will still meter on a half press. The only thing that needs to be chosen between is standard metering or locking the exposure.

Why? I'm trying to work out what you're trying to do, but my creativity isn't up to it this morning. What are the circumstances in which you want the camera to AF but *not* to meter?
 
I thought that the af-on button fucosed only and then you would meter with the shutter button. So what yuor saing it meters as well but doesn't lock the metering till you take the shot.

Yes, that's it (assuming you're set up that way). The metering is biased towards the active AF point and the tracking algorithm uses the luminosity to assist decision making when passing control from one focus point to the next (if multiple points are enabled).

Does it not lock the exposure in one shot and continually meters in A1 Servo?

Havent got my camera to hand to check.
