Hi all,

Just picked up a Canon 5D and it only has 2 batteries, as I plan on using this for weddings I would ideally like to at least double that number.

I also have a 5D2 which runs on replacement batteries purchased off eBay and have had mixed results, some better than OEM others died after one cycle.

Just wondering if anyone could recommend me a non-OEM replacement battery BP511 for the 5D which is cheap and good?

Thank you

I honestly have no idea. The eBay ones claim a high capacity, but I'd take that claim with a large dose of salt. It's been a couple years since I last used BP511 batteries. I know the 7dayshop BP511 batteries are well recommended all over the place, and so cheap it would be rude not to try them. Maybe the eBay ones are even better. I have no way of knowing. This is not complex technology. I'm sure either choice will be fine, given the meagre price either way.

As for retaining date/time, that is not the job of these batteries. Your camera will have a little button/coin cell in it that takes care of that side of things, probably slotted into the main battery compartment. Possibly that could be getting on a bit now and might need replacing.

I just looked at the reviews. Mine is listed at #06. Note the most recent review was back in 2008. :D

They should be fine for your 5D. I've been using 7dayshop for over 10 years and have some 8 or 9 year old rechargeable AA batts that are still going strong.
