Canon 5D & TC80N3 (Remote Timer) Problem

Does anyone have any ideas with this one, tried many things but simply cannot get my head around it.

Canon 5D MK1 + Canon TC-80N3 Remote Timer

I'm setting the camera up fully manual (focus, WB, Single Shot etc), following the instructions in the Remote Timer manual to the letter. Long Exposure NR is off, as is everything I can think of that could possibly interfere with the timer.

On the Timer I've set it up for 75 exposures with a 5 second gap in-between each one, however no matter what I do it will only take 11 photos. I've also left it in unlimited exposure mode ('0') and again, just 11 photos. After the 11th photo the LCD screen brings up the last image, then nothing.

I bought the remote specifically to make star trail shooting easier, but obviously if I have to restart it after every 11th photo I may as well have saved myself a lot of money and just bought a regular remote.

I've watched the LCD on the camera and timer carefully and nothing flashes up after that 11th photo, so I don't really have any clues as to what is going wrong.

How long is the exposure setting on the timer? If the camera is doing 30sec exposures, but the exposure setting on the timer is considerably less, it may be that the timer is getting to the end of it's program before the camera has taken all 75 shots, simply because the camera cannot keep up with the timer.

I've not set an exposure time on the actual timer, I had the camera in Manual Mode (30 second exposures), so I had assumed the 'Interval' setting on the timer would be setting how long there is between each exposure (i.e. 30 second exposure, 5 second interval, 30 second exposure etc), so maybe I've mis-understood what 'Interval' actually means.

I think I've got around it anyway, switching the camera to Bulb mode and setting the exposure time on the timer (instead of the camera) achieves what I'm after.
