I've recently (since April) been getting this issue with the camera

its come up during a holiday and now its persisting.

The fault seemingly comes at random, i try to reset it by taking the battery out etc (as recommended by canon) but the problem doesnt go away. the camera seizes up and freezes. Inexplicably the issue then resolves itself after sometime (more than a few minutes - usually overnight) being switched off.

whats worse is that the camera was bought from digitalrev in feb last year - so its two months out of its warranty which is a real sucker. i've contacted them and they've said they're unable to do anything as its outside the 12 months *Sigh* two frikking months.

so has anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it?

I've read from googling that this isnt a rare error - sending it to canon they just replace the interior and send a bill around the £200/300 region.

Mines has done the same on several occasions , also the screen goes black , taking the battery out usually solves the problem . I keep forgetting to look at my receipt to see if I'm still covered.
Is the focusing ok on yours?, I ask because when I have my 100-400mmL lens on and trying to focus on birds I have to move the camera so the centre focus spot is off the bird a bit even though I have it set for that spot.

It's a bit of a long shot, but when I have issues like this with any other form of technology, I reformat it(pc, phone etc). Have you tried formatting the sd card and re-installing the firmware on the camera to see if it helps?
