Hi,

New to all of this.
I have decieded to go for a Canon 600D but i am in a bit of a sticky situation.

I am planning to buy this camera as i go travelling in Novemeber for 9 months which will take me to Hong Kong, China, Thailand, India, SriLanka etc....

Now i dont want to take a great deal of lenses but my plan was:

600D with the 18-135 IS STM lens which from DigitalRev is £529.

Then i wanted to buy 1 other lens such as a Sigma 10-20mm Lens for landscapes etc.

I plan to use the camera walking around markets, taking pics of buildings, people etc. I cant see me needing anything bigger zoom then a 135.

I love the idea of a fish eye but i think the 10-20mm is a better choice.

Would what people reccomend?

Thanks!!!!

Daz

A lot depends on your budget but I'd say the 15-85 which is a better lens than the 18-135 and a 70-200.
I've got the Sigma 10-20 and is a pretty good lens but with restrictions IMO...only use f8 as I've found other f stops make the images lack sharpness throughout.

Thanks,

Well budget is a factor and obviously i dont want to kill loads of money as a first timer.

I thought the 18-135 would be a good starter lens which covers a variety of shots and then get myself a wide angle lens of some sort.

Either 10-20mm
Or
Tokina 10-17mm

There isnt much difference between the 15-85 and the 18-135mm STM in IQ obviously the reach on both at either end price wise the STM is a tad cheaper but is extremely good lens fast getting a following

Personally I'd go for a 17-50mm f2.8 and a f1.4/f1.8 prime like a 30 or 50mm.

Or more likely two cameras, one quality compact with a decent and widish zoom and a better body with a fast prime on it. That's the combination I've usually taken abroad and in my case it was either my 5D or a MFT body fitted with a fast prime for the majority of my shots and my LX5 for use in good light when I wanted either a wider or longer shot than my larger bodied camera + lens would give.

I would wait till I was in HK and buy the stuff there:).
