Canon 60D - Advise Please

After extensive research and reading forums and review site I think I have settled on a 60D. Can't afford the 70D or justify it as a complete beginner. There are some good reductions currently on the 60D.

I need help deciding on lens choice to begin with. I want something that I can use as general walkabout lens for travel, some landscapes, portraits etc until I develop more special interested needing specific lenses.

Any suggestions on lens choice?

I can get the body for £569 so have approx £300 to play with, would prefer new and don't mind import if needed. THe 18-135 STM which is a kit with other cameras looks decent for £299. Any other suggestions?

Nothing else I am missing out on by going for the 60D? Have spend ages considering an OM-D EM5 but i think they are just a little too small for my hands.
 
60D is fine. Price really depends on where you're buying from. Digitalrev are doing body only for £460 which would give you £400 to play around with instead for lens.

If you're keen on UK source, then you can buy a 60D with a kit lens for for £770 from Argos. Canon are doing a £50 cashback until the end of Oct so that's £720, which is cheaper than £569+£300 (£869).

The 60D is a cracking camera, I bought mine from Panamoz and loved it. I eventually swapped it for a 7D and regretted it. The 7D has a great AF system but the 60D has better noise handling and has, IMHO, a better IQ SOOC. The 18-135 STM is really for cameras with Hybrid AF (650D, 700D, 70D) with continuous AF in video but from the reviews it looks like it's better than the older IS version and may well be a worthwhile addition in case you update the camera body in the future.

As for the 70D, Panamoz also have some good offers and might be worth adding the bit extra to the budget to get the kit here http://panamoz.com/index.php/digital-cameras/canon/canon-eos-70d-efs-18135-stm-is-kit.html I have bought from Panamoz a few times and they give a great service, are very reliable and deliver in only a few days. They are also good for warranty work, I had a faulty Sigma 150-500 OS replaced with a brand new lens in my hands after only 11 days since I first contacted them.
 
The Canon 15mm-85mm is probably the best all round lens for a 60D and can be bought for around £300
 
I think the thing is what range do you want from the camera?

I love the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 as my walk around lens on one body and have a longer lens attached to the other body..

But thats because 50mm is often too short even on the crop body.

However if mainly you are doing landscapes etc then that is not a problem and could be a great choice as its a superb sharp lens
