As requested in another thread about the 60D, I found the time this morning to do a quick test at various ISOs. Started at 400, because I couldn't go any lower indoors and there is no noise really below that anyway. Kept my aperture the same and just adjusted shutter speed in line with ISO to keep the exposure identical.
I have not done anything to these shots, these are how they came out of the camera. No noise reduction, no sharpening, nothing. Just converted from raw to jpeg and resized. Included a close up of the eye from each shot as well.
As you can see, noise does creep in as you go up in ISO, but nothing that a little bit of noise reduction in raw won't clean up.
Hope this is helpful to someone. I actually was surprised myself at the results, because I rarely go over 400, I generally just use bounced flash instead if I need it. But I might rethink that now!
