D7000 is finally here and it could not be any more obvious it is an all round superior camera to Canon 60D, and very likely the top crop 7D. Only 5D mkII looks like a good NEW camera for money (under £2k; AF issues aside).

If I had to start again under budget I would get D7000 and THEN think about the lens.

Lets look closer:

Perhaps it is time to price 7D a bit lower, and 60D much much lower than MSRP.

Let's hear some opinions!

The 60D body is wrong.

It's not just plastic, it's a special plastic/metal mix (apparently the same as used on the 100mm f/2.8L IS macro).

Apart from AF points, they're pretty much equal on everything else. (and only 9 of the 39 are cross type)

Why would it top the 7D? the 7D shoots at 8fps and is weather sealed.

It's seems a very strange conclusion to draw from those specs that it's gonna be 'all round superior' to the 60D and possibly better than the 7D.

And we know from history that the price of the 60D will drop a couple of hundred after a few months.

Surely you should at least leave it till some hands on tests and ISO samples are released before making statements like 'it could not be any more obvious'

The D7000 has been made to compete against the D60, which was made to sit between the 550D and 7D. The 7D will remain superior in most areas.
