Canon 60d what lenses?

Hi I'm hoping Father Christmas will bring me a lens or two this Christmas and would appreciate recommendations for what lenses to use in the following circumstances but that aren't overally expensive (I don't think Father Christmas has a big budget left over once hes bought the kids their presents).

The first is just for personal use to photograph my 4 children 3 of which rarely sit still so a lens ideal for when they are running around burning off all their energy.

The second will be for business side of things. I mostly shoot babies and use natural light any recommendations for a lens that allows lots of light in to avoid me having to bump up my iso when shooting in very dull low light settings?

So many options and so many if's and buts.

No idea about your budget but for the situations you've mentioned the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM is fantastic lens on a crop sensor and will give you flexiblity in terms of the focal range as well as some degree of speed.

A no brainer for me would be a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8. A bargain low price option for creative shallow dof and low light.

Deffo the Canon 50mm f1.8 - an excellent lens and incredible value!

But personally I would keep to EF lenses in case you ever get bitten by the FF bug - my own personal favourite for flexibility is the Canon 28-135mm IS USM lens - I had it on my 350D and now it's on my Canon 1Ds MkII.

I shoot with a 60D and find the 50mm f1.8 a bit too much of a zoom on the crop; the 30mm sigma at f1.4 is a bit more ££ but is pretty much all I use for night shots and I've no complaints.

Another very nice lens I recently purchased is the 10-22 f3.5-4.5; okay so it's EF-S which if you go FF makes it redundant, and it's variable aperture, and has no IS but the IQ outperforms the kit 17-85 (IS USM) and comes close to L class imho.
