Ok, I have the 60mm Canon Macro and it's a great lens but i keep looking at images from the 85mm f1.8 and they just blow me away especially for the money. I have had mixed results (My fault not using correct f stops!!) with the 60mm and i don't use the Macro function much at all and was wondering if it would be worth selling the 60mm and going for the 85mm. I really would like to take the 60mm out for some street shots but never seem to get the time at the moment. Would the 85mm be better for this?

Your thoughts please..........

The big difference is that the 85mm does f/1.8. And that is quite a big difference - very shallow depth of field, nice bright viewfinder image. Apart from that, not much in it if you don't use the macro end much.

The 85 is very very good and a nice compact lens. Will give FoV equivalent to 135mm on the 40D, which I find is a useful length for "family" stuff outside.

Hmmmm. I think a trip to the classified section is in order!! :D

My intention is to buy new, not that i have a problem with 2nd hand but i think that the 85mm will be a favorite so i would like to know the full history.
