i currently have the rather nice canon 85mm f/18.
i dont shoot alot of portraits but when i do this is clearly the obvious lens to use in my meagre kit ( have a 10-18stm, and 2 old EF lens a 28-105 and 100-300 ) .
however id like to do more macro shooting and dont have the funds for a macro lens ( all my spare cash is tied up towards a tamron 150-600 ).
i could go down the SH route and instead of the tamron get a SH sigma 150-500 leaving me enough to pick up a SH tamron 90mmMacro ( prefer that over the sigma and not enough in the budget for the canon 100mm ).
so my though process wonders if the canon 60mm Macro would be a good option for as well as obviously macros for shooting portraits ( APS-C canon 60D so approx 96mm ff focal length equiv )
i know im losing 1 and 1/3 stops on the 60mm but i can cope with that. price wise the 85mm seems to be about £20-30 more SH ( going by MPB ) so in theory shouldnt be to much of a problem maybe doing a straight swap . but is the 60mm macro any good for portraits as i hear very little mention of people using it ( for either portrait or macro work ). i know the 100mm macro gives double the distance from front of lens to subject when shooting up close but wonder if on aps-c the 100mm ( or tamrons 90mm ) would be to long for portrait work ( tamron is around same price sh as the canon 60mm )
