Canon 6D sample images on dpreview

Looks good at the higher end of the iso scale with managable noise at 25600. Just going to wait for some real reviews and user opinion (and not all the idiotic blithering over specs that seems to have missed the point!).

I have to say I always struggle to make much use of samples like these...the JPG engine really isn't to my taste! BUT...the images at the end with the mouse and toy give me confidence that the 6D will at least perform the same as the 5D III in the high ISO stakes

Just been comparing the original 5D III JPG still life samples to those of the 6D...whilst there are some slight differences in exposure, the 6D looks a lot better at 51200 and 102400. There's much less purple patches in there.

A complaint of mine with many new cameras is the max shutter speed, like this 6D, having a max of 1/4000 sec.

I know many of us managed perfectly well with slower shutter speeds in the past but in recent years I've got used to a max of 1/8000 sec and being able to shoot at f1.4 in good light. I really hate messing on with ND's and a max shutter speed of 1/4000 sec really annoys me when I'm stuck with it.

Agreed with regards the jpeg engine, the canon default is quite heavy handed with regards noise. Does give some encouragement as to its capabilities though!

Alan, I know what you mean...it seems a bit tight limiting the camera like that, but I'm struggling to think of an occasion when I'd want to be shooting at f/1.4 in good light.

I've never paid attention to canon jpegs - they have always been pretty awful. The default settings are too soft and too saturated in the red channel.

Well, ISO 50 on the 6D looks perfectly usable, possibly even marginally better than the 5D3, which gets you an extra stop if you need it.

I do like to shoot wide open now and again for subject isolation or just a dreamy look. ISO 50 helps, but all in all I'd much rather have 1/8000 and ISO 50 and TBH I struggle to understand why the 6D and others "only" get 1/4000 sec.

I have lots of shots taken at 1/8000 and losing the ability to grab them and instead having to mess about with ND's and missing grab shots does put me off. It's a PITA with my MFT and it'd be a PITA if my 5D was the same.

I't probably just me.

That looks very promising. Have to admit I'm very tempted by the 6D.
